Starbucks is the latest corporation to get their BLM response all wrong, and now they’re getting more roasted than their coffee beans.
#BoycottStarbucks is trending on social media after a leaked memo from the coffee chain to its staff showed them banning employees from wearing any Black Lives Matter accessories. The memo reminded #Starbucks’ employees of the company dress code, and that any attire relating to a ‘political, religious, or personal issue’ is not allowed. Celebrities and the like brought up a message Starbucks posted just a few days earlier – declaring the company’s dedication to the movement – to highlight the #hypocrisy between its external and internal messaging. Others noted the chain allowed employees to wear #LGBTQ attire, and even launched a line of #rainbow mugs and tote bags. Yikes.
