After Pardon, Gen. Michael Flynn Demands Trump Declare Martial Law, Suspend the Constitution
Well that escalated quickly. On November 25, 2020, President Donald Trump issued an executive grant of clemency, otherwise known as a pardon, to Retired U.S. Army General Michael Flynn. The sweeping pardon cleared the former national security adviser of any crimes he might have committed connected to the Mueller investigation despite the former general admitting to multiple crimes. One week later and the retired general began demanding that the president declare martial law.
On Tuesday, Flynn, in a tweet, called on Trump to declare martial law, suspend the constitution and have the military oversee a new election. Declaring that “Freedom never kneels except for God,” Flynn tweeted a press release out on Tuesday, that called on Trump to invoke martial law to hold the new election.

The embedded link was a press release from wethepeopleconvention.org, an organization who claims “to recruit, educate, and motivate Ohio citizens at the grassroots level to perform their constitutionally defined role in the governance of their townships, municipalities, counties, as well as in our state and nation, by providing opportunities, knowledge, and training to ensure limited constitutional governance.”
The press release, from an organization who claims to train people on their constitutional duty called for suspending that very constitution and having the military run the nation. Seems legit.
According to the release, which was also run as a full page ad in the Washington Examiner, the group compared Trump to Abraham Lincoln during the Civil War and noted that it is the duty of Americans to make the president take Extraordinary Executive actions to “save the Union” from the “literal civil war that is dividing our nation today.”
Further on in the press release, this alleged “pro-constitution” organization called for suspending that very constitution. The organization “calls upon President Trump, like Lincoln, to exercise the Extraordinary Powers of his office and declare limited Martial Law to temporarily suspend the Constitution and civilian control of these federal elections in order to have the military implement a national re-vote that reflects the true will of the people.”
Nothing seems more American and patriotic quite like suspending the rule of law that guarantees our freedom and implementing martial law to have the military rule over the country. Super patriotic.
Tom Zawistowski, President of the TEA Party affiliated We the People Convention (WTPC) and Executive Director of the Portage County TEA Party, released a statement along with the press release, claiming that leftists organized an election fraud and stole the vote from the people.
“We wanted to express our concerns to the President, to the legislators, courts and Congress that We the People will NOT cede our exclusive Constitutional right to elect our Representatives to judges, lawyers, courts, Governors, Secretary’s of State, Congress, corrupt election officials and local politicians, the corrupt media – or Leftist threats of violence!” Zawistowski exclaimed. “It is OUR EXCLUSIVE RIGHT to elect our President and that sacred right has been infringed by the massive, planned, illegal election fraud conducted by corrupt Democrat/Socialist Party operatives across our nation to steal our vote. We will NOT stand for it.”
Attorney Lin Wood, who is a QAnon supporting pro-Trump attorney representing Kenosha shooter Kyle Rittenhouse, also tweeted out the link, and he also called for Trump to declare martial law, claiming that China is trying to take down America.

Many folks took to the above Tweets to declare they were acts of sedition, a serious felony punishable by fines and up to 20 years in prison for the act of inciting revolt or violence against a lawful authority with the goal of destroying or overthrowing it.
However, in Brandenburg v. Ohio the U.S. Supreme Court maintained that seditious speech—including speech that constitutes an incitement to violence—is protected by the First Amendment as long as it does not indicate an “imminent” threat.
Whether or not this indicates an imminent threat is unclear as Trump has yet to respond. However, the release has racked up hundreds of thousands of shares, showing just how serious many of these folks are.
