INTERPOL rejects Iran’s request to arrest Donald Trump

BEIRUT, LEBANON (10:00 P.M.) – the International Police (INTERPOL) has announced that it will not consider the Iranian request to pursue U.S. President Donald Trump and 35 other people whom Tehran considers responsible for the assassination of the late Quds Force commander, Qassem Soleimani.

An INTERPOL spokesperson told Russia’s RIA Novosti publication on Monday, that consideration of the Iranian request, which affects 36 people, including military and political officials in the United States, would have been inconsistent with the organization’s constitution.

The spokesman explained that the third article of this document prevents INTERPOL from taking any steps that have a political, military, sectarian and ethnic character, adding:

“When such a request will be directed to the General Secretariat, and if that happens, it will not be considered by INTERPOL, in accordance with its constitution and rules.”

Soleimani was assassinated in a drone strike carried out by the U.S. military outside of Baghdad on the night of January 3rd, 2020.

The late Quds Force commander was also traveling with the Deputy Commander of the Popular Mobilization Units, Abu Mahdi Al-Mohandis, who was also killed in the drone strike outside of the Baghdad International Airport.
