Rafael Nadal Expands Tennis Academy Business Into Greece

Tennis star Rafael Nadal has expanded his tennis academy into Greece.

The Spaniard, an 18-time major singles winner, opened the Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar in his hometown of Manacor, on the Spanish island of Mallorca in 2016.

The academy, which offers coaching to anyone ranging from club players to talented juniors to the world’s top players, opened its first Rafa Nadal Tennis Centre in December in Costa Mujeres, north of the Mexican resort of Cancun. It forms part of the TRS Coral Hotel and the Grand Palladium Costa Mujeres Resort & Spa

It has now added a Rafa Nadal Tennis Centre in Halkidiki, one of Greece’s biggest tourist destinations located close to Thessaloniki, the academy said in an emailed statement.

The new tennis centers are “located in high-end holiday resorts in the world’s biggest holiday destinations,” according to the press release.

The new center in Greece is based in the 5-star Sani Resort, and has eight clay courts. Coaching programs for holiday makers are based on the training system Nadal and his coaching staff have developed in more than 15 years on the professional tour.

An extra bonus for guests visiting in the last week of July: Toni Nadal, the forner long-time coach and uncle of the 12-times French Open winner, who is director of the Mallorca-based tennis academy, will visit the Greek academy and attend the training and tennis programs that will take place during those days.

Nadal will be competing in the Wimbledon Championships, which start July 1 in London. The 33-year-old is a two-time champion on the lawns of the All England Club.
