http://glr.com/cln This video is an “reenactment” of my Renunciation Ceremony at the U.S Embassy in Asuncion, Paraguay. The presentation here is less formal, but will give you a clear idea of the essential act of renunciation: taking the Oath.
On the video here the actual oath, the actual losing of U.S. Citizenship took under 90 seconds. Listen to the words of the Oath carefully. It is the transition from being American to not being American.
The complete renunication process will take longer than 90 seconds of course and require two trips to the US Embassy. I’ve written a book detailing my experience and also included a copy of all the forms that were involved in the process as I filled them out. You can see how little information is actually required.
Whether you are an expat seriously thinking about renouncing your U.S. Citizenship, casually pondering it, or just interested in the story of someone that went from being a U.S. Citizen to having no nationality at all, you can find “How to Renounce Your U.S. Citizenship in Two Easy Steps” on Amazon.com in Paperback and Kindle formats: http://www.amazon.com/Renounce-Your-U…
Remember, you don’t need any reason to renounce. As an American Citizen you have the right to renounce your Citizenship. It is not important if you are angry about FACTA, U.S. Military actions around the world, the Welfare State, or anything else. Maybe you feel as I did, that I had simply outgrown the United States.
