Trump said he had tasked US Vice President J.D. Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, in conjunction with the chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff Dan Kaine, to work with both sides to achieve a lasting peace.

Trump Invites Netanyahu, Aoun to White House for Talks
In a second tweet, the president of the United States announced that he intends to invite Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun to the White House for high-level talks between the two countries.
As he stated, this is the first substantial attempt at dialogue between Israel and Lebanon since 1983, underlining the importance of the initiative for de-escalating tensions in the region.
The American president argued that both sides want to reach a peace agreement and expressed his assessment that progress can be made in a short period of time.
Lebanese PM welcomes ceasefire announcement
Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam says he welcomes the temporary ceasefire agreement with Israel, which he says Lebanon has been seeking since the start of the war.
He expressed hope that the agreement will allow those displaced by the conflict to return to their homes. Salam also praised international efforts to achieve a ceasefire.
Netanyahu ministers furious: “We learned about it from the media”
Benjamin Netanyahu has called an emergency telephone meeting with members of Israel’s security cabinet to discuss the ceasefire with Lebanon, according to Israeli media.
According to reports, the ministers were notified just five minutes before the call, which coincided with Donald Trump’s announcement of a 10-day ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon.
According to the Times of Israel, the ministers expressed their anger at learning about the ceasefire from the media, without having voted on the issue.
Von der Leyen: Israel-Lebanon ceasefire a positive development, need for lasting peace
For her part, Ursula von der Leyen described the announcement of a 10-day ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon, which was achieved through the mediation of US President Donald Trump, as a positive development.
As she said, the temporary cessation of hostilities is a relief, as the conflict has already caused a large number of casualties.

Ο Ντόναλντ Τραμπ γνωστοποίησε με ανάρτησή του ότι Ισραήλ και Λίβανος συμφώνησαν να προχωρήσουν σε εκεχειρία διάρκειας δέκα ημερών, η οποία θα τεθεί από τα μεσάνυχτα (ώρα Ελλάδας).
Σύμφωνα με τον Αμερικανό πρόεδρο, στόχος της εκεχειρίας είναι η δημιουργία των προϋποθέσεων για μια ευρύτερη συμφωνία ειρήνης μεταξύ των δύο χωρών. Όπως ανέφερε, η προσωρινή παύση των εχθροπραξιών αποτελεί ανακούφιση, καθώς η σύγκρουση έχει ήδη προκαλέσει μεγάλο αριθμό θυμάτων.
Η πρόεδρος της Ευρωπαϊκής Επιτροπής υπογράμμισε ότι η διεθνής κοινότητα δεν πρέπει να περιοριστεί σε μια προσωρινή αποκλιμάκωση, αλλά να επιδιώξει μια διαρκή συμφωνία που θα εξασφαλίζει μακροχρόνια ειρήνη.
