They make shows about espionage. They end up like espionage.

Dana Eden, producer of Apple TV series ‘Tehran,’ found dead in Greece

Dana Eden, the Israeli producer of Apple TV series “Tehran,” was found dead in an Athens hotel room on Sunday during filming of the show’s fourth season in Greece. She was 52.
Greek police said Eden’s death appeared to be a suicide, and foul play was not suspected. However, authorities will wait for an autopsy before declaring her official cause of death. Her brother told Greek TV stations she had bruises on her neck and limbs, and pills were found in her room.
Eden’s production company, Donna and Shula Productions, quickly shot down rumors that her death was caused by Iran in some way.
“The production company wishes to clarify that the rumors of a criminal or nationally motivated death are false and unfounded,” the company wrote in an online statement. “This is a moment of great pain for the family, friends and colleagues. We ask that Dana’s dignity and the privacy of her loved ones be respected.”
“Tehran” premiered in 2020 and follows a young Mossad agent who joins the Israeli mission to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear bomb. The show is filmed entirely in Greece, largely in Athens, which stood in for the titular Iranian capital.
Prior to her success with “Tehran,” which won an International Emmy in 2021, Eden was a well-known member of the Israeli film and TV industry. Her death was mourned by the country’s cultural ministry.
“Dana left a deep mark on Israeli creation and brought our story to international stages with pride, talent and courage,” Israel’s Culture and Sports Minister Miki Zohar said in a social media post. He called her “one of the most prominent and influential producers in the Israeli television industry.”
