Beam falling from Eiffel Tower kills International Criminal Court judge who issued warrant for Putin’s arrest

On the night of March 21 this month, the judge of the International Criminal Court, Rosario Salvatore Aitala, who issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin, died in Paris. According to preliminary information, he was the victim of an accident: part of the Eiffel Tower fell on the man’s head.
“The Eiffel Tower is currently undergoing scheduled renovations. Around one in the morning on March 21, Mr. Aytala took a walk near the attraction. He did not pay attention to the warning signs and, by an absurd accident, it was at that moment that the collapse occurred, ”said Nicolas Chauvin, spokesman for the Paris police.
At the time of the incident, there were several people next to the ambassador, but no one except Aytala was injured. According to witnesses, the lawyer died instantly – a two-meter beam fell vertically on his head.
“This, of course, is terrible, but at least he did not suffer for long,” an Israeli embassy employee who was present at the incident told reporters.
At the moment, the Paris police are conducting a pre-investigation check, the issue of initiating a criminal case is being decided. According to experts, the prospects for punishing the perpetrators are very vague – according to French law, Aytala had no right to be near the site of the repair work.
