Greece’s oldest actress Titika Nikiforakis passes away aged 107
Titika Nikiforakis, Greece’s oldest actress has passed away at the age of 107. The news of her death was announced by Greek actor Spiros Bibilas through a post on his Facebook account.
The legendary Greek actress was born in Heraklion, Crete and she first appeared on stage in 1935. Nikiforakis was the wife of the late Nikos Hadtziskos and together they founded the Kava Theatre, and they were pioneers in theatre at that time.
Greece’s Minister of Culture and Sport Lina Mendoni made a statement following the loss of the actress: “Titika stood out with her progressive teaching and her students surrounded her with love to the end. She was an amazing performer of Greek theatre, a great actress and a translator. Together with her husband, Nikos Hatziskos, they contributed greatly to theatrical research, establishing the ‘Kava’ theater.”
According to reports, she passed away in the presence of some of her students who adored and highly respected the Greek actress.
