John Bolton Memoir Sells Over 780,000 Copies in First Week
Former national security adviser’s book joins a list of hot-selling political titles
Former national security adviser John Bolton’s memoir sold more than 780,000 copies in all formats through its first week on sale in the U.S., publisher Simon & Schuster said Wednesday, the latest strong performance for a political book.
The book, “The Room Where It Happened: A White House Memoir,” is highly critical of President Trump and relays stories about Mr. Bolton’s time in government and relationship with the president.
The Trump administration attempted to block its publication on national security grounds, but Simon & Schuster, the book publishing arm of ViacomCBS Inc., went ahead with a June 23 launch.
The sales the publisher disclosed include books that have been ordered but not shipped to consumers. Simon & Schuster has ordered more hardcover copies that will bump the total number in print to a million.
