GreekNewsOnDemand.com: SYRIZA and Tsipras will love it! “A MUST SEE”!!!

The movie “Cliffs of Freedom”, which takes place against the backdrop of the Greek War of Independence, premiered in select NY and LA theaters on March 1.

The story follows a Greek village woman and an Ottoman Turkish colonel who fall in love just as Greece begins its fight for independence against the Ottoman empire.

Not only is the story set in and about Greece, but many Greeks also worked behind the scenes and in front of the camera for the “Cliffs of Freedom” film.

The script was co-written by Van Ling, who also directed the film, and Marianne Metropoulos. Actors Billy ZaneCostas Mandylor, and Simon Kassianides played significant roles in the movie, and George Kallis composed the music for the feature film.

Christopher Plummer, Patti LuPone, Tania Raymonde, and Raza Jeffrey are just a few of the other prominent actors included in the cast.

Initial audience and critical reaction to the movie has been very positive. Many Greeks are proud that a movie is finally examining their history of oppression under the Ottoman Empire, as well as the country’s brave rebellion.

The film’s care in including Greek cast and crew members was also praised.
