The Syrian Air Force from their Facebook page writes:
The most important battle for the future of Syria is at most a week away from taking place. The objective is to defeat the ISIS terrorist coalition around the region of Tabaqa in the Raqqa provincial area, and secure the Tabaqa air base.
The goal of the US invading force, backed by Kurdish ethnic separatists from Iraq and Turkey that are mostly composed of Peshmerger militiamen and PKK terrorists, is to secure both Raqqa and the surrounding oil platforms to then use as a permanent foothold to divide Syria across the Euphrates.
Securing the Tabaqa air base will defeat this goal, through the placement of point air defenses, followed by medium range (50km) and long range (150km) air defense assets that Syria is prepared to use in case of violations of sovereignty. The details of the components will be revealed once the battle is over.
The ranges of the air defenses that can be deployed in Tabaqa are shown in the image attached.
